Today I had a lot of fun. I went to where Mandy is staying for lunch, and then she gave me another tour of Ukarumpa, including seeing all the houses the VanDorens lived in and the inside of the one they owned. I also met the Vizners (sp?), saw Sarah Graham's dad drive by in a truck, went to see the VanDorens' dogs, and met some other people. (The people Mandy stayed with had been to the same village that the guys went to for village living at POC). Mandy also took me through the high school and told me what all the different rooms were for. I played one key on the piano that Mandy and Tabitha took lessons on .
Between 4 and 6pm, we went to the horse paddocks and rode and had a lot of fun. First, I rode Firewood and even jumped some little jumps five times! (I kept hitting him in the mouth with the bit on the landings, but the last time I didn't ) Then I rode Scruples for a little bit and I liked her too
. She has a mind of her own, but once I clearly indicated what I wanted her to do, she listened. We did walk, trot, canter, some semi-turn on the forehand, practiced halts, and a little shoulders-in. I like her
.
Then Ruth and I came back to Nipa and we had lasagna for supper and cake and ice cream for Julie's birthday. We also went over to some peoples' house to watch a video from Julie's family. I was surprised at how fancy the house was... they had a washer and dryer, a jacuzzi bathtub in their bathroom, and a lot of space. The builders of the house (previous owners) had designed it and found all the wood cheap locally and then built it.
Ukarumpa High School graduation is tonight, and Ruth isn't back yet. Ruth Gossner is sharing a room with me until I leave on Friday for village living with the Whiteheads. Okay, I'm really tired... Goodnight .
