Date: 6/18/04
Location: Village living near Madang, Papua New Guinea

Today was our last full day in the village. This morning, ren i kam ("the rain came"). Our men came over a little later because of the rain. Then we had a program at the school for the children - some songs, a Jonah skit, some games, and the presentation of some gifts (exercise books, pencils, pencil sharpeners, and a small world globe). I played some more volleyball today, and we went to take showers from a hose which brought water from higher up the mountain, using gravity to work. Christina, one of the village girls, followed me to the waswas ples ("place for washing"). I made friends with her and gave her and some other children some stickers. They like to put the stickers on their faces and hands . After supper tonight, we had a lotu service. One of the vilage "papas" read from 1 Corinthians 14 and gave a little talk. Then all of us "whiteskins" gave small talks. Margarette challenged the peple to read their Tok Ples Bibles. She asked the Papa to read two verses from the Amele (Tok Ples) Bible, and he was having difficulty. After the lotu service, I talked a lot about horses with some people, including our was mama. My flashlight is dying...
