Date: 7/1/04
Location: Whiteheads' village, Papua New Guinea

This morning, after reading my Bible and eating breakfast, I went and worked on A,B,D Buks for a while. We also got to watch a "community checking" process. Carl and a national translator asked questions to other nationals about Acts 7-8 to see if it was clearly translated. The questions were mostely to see if the facts were clear, and not interpretive questions so much. Later, we got to read emails - I had one from Tabitha, which cheered me up a bit, just knowing that she missed me, too. Early in the afternoon, we went and helped prepare a "mumu", a meal where the village people cook "kaukau" (food) on hot rocks covered with peels of banana stems. Banana leaves are then put on top of the food to keep the heat in. They also prepared the greens, which included a kind of ivy/vine, stinging nettles, Maggi noodles, some tin fish, basil, and other greens. This evening, back at the Whiteheads', we had some waffles, too. Yum!
